Matt practiced law in Coral Gables, Florida for two years prior to relocating to Vermont in 1982. He practiced exclusively in the Family Division of the Vermont Superior Court beginning in 2005. Prior to that time, and since 1984, Family Division matters, e.g. divorce, parentage actions, property division, spousal support and child support, constituted a substantial portion of his practice. In connection with his Family Division practice Matt frequently served, at the request and appointment of the Family Division, as Guardian Ad Litem for children involved in custody disputes, as attorney for children involved in custody disputes, and as Acting Magistrate adjudicating financial support matters. Prior to practicing exclusively in the Family Division, Matt handled various Civil Division matters, and residential real estate transactions.
Matt specializes in mediation of Family Court matters and is able to bring to mediation sessions his extensive Family Court expertise. In addition, Matt mediates various civil disputes, including but not limited to employment disputes, personnel issues and real estate partition actions. In recent years, Matt has steadily expanded his dispute resolution practice, and is now engaged in mediation full time.
